What my clients love the most about what I do?

I specialize in natural looking healthy blondes, rich believable brunettes, and breathtaking redheads. My clients love wearing their natural curls and waves. It's not about a tricky blow out. I encourage a low maintenance hair approach. Learning the real facts, and not fake marketing about what you should and shouldn't do to keep your hair healthy.

Hair care is not about  having a million products to fix the damage. It's about preventing it to begin with. It's about creating a simple regime that works for you, and your hair type. I believe and take pride in facilitating my clients journey back to healthy hair.

To me a black sheep is special, unique, one of a kind, and stands out. Is unafraid to speak up, and ultimately is original. Ryan Oakley

What is my experience in hair?

I have worked as a stylist and a color specialist for 16 years. I trained as a cutting specialist through the Aveda Academy, Color specialist and Technical educator for AlfaParf Milano in Alberta, Canada when I was a junior stylist.  I have worked with just about every top color line in the world. L'Oreal, Wella, Redken, Aveda, AlfaParf Milano, LSAP Milano, Schwarzkopf Professional, Davines,  Matrix, Joico Vero Color, etc.

I currently use a combination of Wella and Schwarzkopf Professional. In my experience, they work best for me and I love the end result and the texture, shine, longevity of the color and condition of the hair. I have taken various cutting and stying courses over the years through Aveda, Sassoon, Schwarzkopf Essential Looks, Toni and Guy, LableM, Orbie, Davines.

As a stylist I'm always searching for cool new techniques in hair and always looking  for new videos through online hair education platforms. I'm always playing with Mannequins at home, trying out new styles and techniques. Hair never ends for me.

For the fall 2014 I have a Vidal Sassoon Boot Camp planned to learn even more about hair, and have further dreams of traveling and studying abroad with different methods of cutting to learn all aspects of hair. It's not about only one type of education. It's about learning from everyone. From apprentices to master cutters and colorists, I believe you can learn anything from anyone.

I have traveled throughout Canada, Central and South America. Having spent 7 years in  Central and South America,  I'm very accustomed to different types and textures of hair. From curly to straight, and thick to thin, and every texture and density of hair  in-between. I have had the great opportunity of having clients from all over the world sit in my chair. I have listened and learned so much from my clients about how to work with their hair type. Sometimes the stylist should listen to the man or woman with curly hair. He/She wears it every day. They might teach you something you don't know about their hair type.

I specialize in correcting hair.  It can be either, restoring the hairs health and integrity, or correcting color disasters. One thing I will stress to every client is that corrections can, and do take many steps and appointments.  Lifting hair from black to white in one day will damage your hair no matter what anyone says. Know that a fantastic blonde takes time.  And doing it yourself at home because you watched a cool Youtube video is a game of Russian roulette. Most of the time the color ends up a disaster, and you are left with fried Blorange Hair (Not quite blonde and not quite orange) its Blorange!!! That color does not look good on anyone. So having patience and respecting the home care plan is essential to the process.

I built a very successful reputation in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Was featured in many online blogs and magazines in TimeOut Magazine 3 years running as one of the best colorists and stylists in the city. That information is easily found on Google. Just enter "Ryan Oakley Buenos Aires" and you can read for yourself. I had never focused on building a visual portfolio of my work (not the best of ideas). I would just let word of mouth be my social media, in 2014 that is not going to work. So here it is, and here I am.

I hope you continue to come to my webpage and watch this "Black Sheep" grow into something amazing . You can always expect change from me. So keep following!

I could keep running off credentials, but honestly in the end it doesn't matter what I say. What matters is when you come in and experience it yourself. I believe as a stylist, you are only as good as your last cut and color, so make it count!

My methods are not always conventional and mainstream. I work uniquely with each and every client and hair type.  I always tell my clients judge the end result, not how we get there.
